Here, the 41 adult males that could read signed the Mayflower Compact in 1620. This document came to fruition because the puritans had determined that they greatly missed the Virginia colony and were forced to colonize a new are. Due to the fact that they had to colonize a new area they drew up a temporary document to set rules and guidelines.
